What is Camp-In?

Way back in 1972, a science center in Columbus, Ohio called COSI teamed up with some very inventive (and energetic) Girl Scouts from the Seal of Ohio Council to create CAMP-IN...the ultimate science-immersion indoor camping experience. You might say things have gone well: in April 2009, COSI and the Girl Scouts - Seal of Ohio Council welcomed the ONE MILLIONTH Camp-In camper! More about Camp-In...

About This Site & COSI

This website was created by COSI - Columbus, Ohio's dynamic hands-on science center. COSI opened to the public on March 29, 1964.

After 35 years in Memorial Hall (at 280 East Broad Street), COSI moved to its current location in downtown Columbus at 333 West Broad Street on November 6, 1999.

Since 1964, COSI has welcomed nearly 19 million visitors from all 50 states and numerous foreign countries.

Bringing Home Bob!

Here's a great story from Camp-In 2012 participants Lauren and Danielle Beltz - enjoy! Dear COSI, When  Lauren brought home a Painted Lady Caterpillar from her Girl Scout Camp In on February 11th.... We had no idea that we were about to enter into almost ten week commitment to raise and care for  "Bob" the Painted Lady Butterfly. What followed her Camp In was fun for the entire family as we rooted for Bob to thrive and learned a lot about Painted Lady Butterflies. The first week was uneventful…See More

Girl Scouts' 100th Birthday Celebration!

COSI attended a 100th birthday celebration for the Girl Scouts organized by the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio this past Saturday night, and talked with lots of Girl Scouts about COSI's overnight Camp-In program. The event took place at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in Dayton, and over 1,000 people attended. Thank you to the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio for inviting us!…
